Welcome to Yate Car Hire. These Terms of Service govern your use of our website and vehicle rental services. By engaging with us, you agree to these terms.
Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, applicable charges, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Yate Car Hire, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type. A valid full driving license is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. You will also need to provide valid payment details and a security deposit, along with any other conditions outlined in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Dartford office. To confirm your booking, a deposit may be necessary. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed to document the state of the vehicle. Upon return, the vehicle should be in the same condition as at collection, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. The vehicle should be returned with the same level of fuel it had when collected; otherwise, refueling fees will be applied. Late returns may incur extra charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You are accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an associated administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options are available to help minimize your financial liability. It is important to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you have opted for additional coverage. Responsibility for damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains with you, regardless of insurance status.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on your booking type and the notice period provided. For precise details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited uses of the rental vehicle:
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. Engaging in racing, off-roading, or similar risky endeavors is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is also not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized individuals to drive it is forbidden. Driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes, staying within designated passenger and weight limits. Additionally, driving beyond the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Yate Car Hire will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount you paid for rental in the past year. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or fraud.
Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. All disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of English and Welsh courts.

Yate reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
